Characterization and structural analysis of anisotropic glassy materials

Glass is often used as an isotropic, homogeneous material in nature, and it is necessary to reduce anisotropy as much as possible for optical glass applications. In this research, we will conduct structural simulation in order to construct a structural model of anisotropic glass and study the origin of anisotropy focusing on the anisotropic sttucture arising in the process of glass manufacturing. We prepare anisotropic glasses by elongation and compressive deformation at elevated temperatures and evaluate the resulting anisotropy of them. We will also conduct amorphous structural analysis focusing on anisotropy using synchrotron radiation facility.
